Workshops and Demonstrations with Michael SandersMichael Sanders is a professional teacher as well as an artist and is expert in a number of different mediums, including watercolour, gouache, acrylics, oils, mixed media and alkyds. He has written books on oils, water-mixable oils, gouache, and acrylics, and gives entertaining and informative workshops and demonstrations, which he will tailor to suit the interests of your Art Society. Demonstrations are most successful when followed by a workshop session of at least one day. For more details, please telephone 01822 834799 or email Michael at artistmjsanders@tiscali.co.uk Sample demonstrations and workshops:
Michael Sanders charges £100 for half a day and £150 for a full day, plus travel at 40p per mile and accommodation, if necessary. Demonstrations are normally two hours (£85), and workshops usually run from 10am to 4pm. If your group would like to try a medium such as water-mixable oils, alkyds, acrylics or gouache, without having the expense of buying lots of materials, Michael can provide enough paint and surfaces to paint on for everyone attending a workshop, for a nominal extra fee of £3 per person. Brushes and other tools are also available to borrow. This is a very popular way of exploring different materials - without spending a fortune! Workshops usually take the form of a step-by-step demonstration, showing specific techniques, with participants painting along. There is time for plenty of individual tuition, and the emphasis is on enjoyment as well as learning. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have learned a range of useful painting methods, and will have an image they can be proud of, to remind them for future reference. Michael prefers to schedule any workshops and demonstrations that entail long distance travel so they occur during the school holidays, but he is flexible and open to negotiation. Overnight accommodation is normally necessary for evening demonstrations that are more than 75 miles from his home near Plymouth. |
