Saint Pere de Rodes in Catalonia
10" x 12" (25 cm x 30 cm)
oil on board
An atmospheric palette knife painting from the mystic ruined monastery
of St Pere de Rodes in the
Pyrenees Mountains near Cadaques, by artist Michael Sanders "This
is a wonderful spot. Remote and mysterious, it is built in layers. To
walk through it is to travel through history, from pre-Christian era to
the eighteenth century. This little demonstration, looking across from
the monastery to a medieval ruined church, was completed in literally a
few minutes. It's very nice to work fast and expressive with a knife; no
brushes to clean, quick and straightforward. Knife painting can be a
real joy". Done as a larger painting this makes a good demonstration to
art groups. |
