"One of a group of painters on holiday with me in Spain. I sketched him earlier in the day, when it was cooler, then transferred the sketch to this painting, because it needed a figure. In reality it was far too hot to be outside reading,-even with a sun hat! Having a sketchbook full of little figure studies is a good idea; you never know when you may need one". This uses coloured pencil, watercolour pencil, and pen techniques,  which feature in my book Quick and Clever Drawing, published by David and Charles, available April 2009
